LG has found itself in hot soup as a customer sues the company after smartphone explodes. The New York resident decided to sue the company after his smartphone burst into flames without warning.

An individual named Muhammad Suttar, 52, is suing LG after his LG Optimus F6 caught fire, causing Suttar to suffer from second-and third-degree burns. Damage was made to the man’s hand and right leg, to the extent that skin graft surgery was needed to help heal the wounds.

The Optimus F6 which was released in 2013, has found itself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. According to claimant’s lawyer, the smartphone was ‘sitting in Sattar’s pocket, then blew up’, which resulted in a trip to Weill Cornell Medical Center.

The incident involving LG’s gadget meant that Suttar was unable to work, which is one of the main reasons why legal action was taken against the technology group.

At the time of writing it’s unclear what Sattar is seeking when it comes to damages, and LG is yet to respond officially to the case. One thing we know for certain is that LG won’t be happy about the negative press.
